Pair of risers in burnished bronze and yellow Siena marble, Italy first quarter 19th century. Oval marble plinth base, embellished with shell and beaded friezes at the bottom and a pair of festoons composed of leaves, lake reeds, and four valves arranged in a rosette pattern, one of which is partly missing. Upper section basement with bronze plaque simulating sea ripples, from which rises an all-round sculpture of a bicaudate winged mermaid, characterized by a “crown” of seaweed and raised arms, the latter holding a large shell with a segmented profile placed on top. One of the bronzes surrounding the plinth is partially missing.
