Regional Port Sideboard, in Cuban Mahogany, with fine grooved wood top. This top with rounded front corners consists of two planks.
This piece of furniture opens with two independent doors, with moulded frames and moulded fronts. They are separated by a fixed central pilaster with vertical grooves. Each of these leaves is held by Bronze plugs, has a lock entry of the same alloy and a lock in working order. The cabinet is supplied with its two keys. Everything is original. These two doors reveal the same storage space, compartmentalized by the presence of a 60 cm deep shelf placed on fixed slats. The inside of this sideboard also has two drawers assembled with large dovetails.
The sides of this sideboard are made of fretwork Cuban mahogany pieces, partially covering recessed panels.
The visible lower crossbars are also cut on rounded lines.
The whole rests at the front on two large snail legs, and at the back on two almost straight legs.
The back and the inside of the cabinet are in Oak.
This Buffet Nantais has amply proven its Robustness and Quality, and it can boast of being in perfect condition despite its 250 years of age. It combines, like many Port furniture of its time, the local manufacturing particularities and the Parisian influences of the 18th century. Probably originally designed for a bourgeois family or a wealthy shipowner, this Regional Buffet is now waiting for a new home in which it will be able to bring Cachet et Caractère.
