The Planchart Handle is a bold, unique utilitarian object, created in homage to Gio Ponti’s Villa Planchart in Caracas – a modernist house he designed in the 1950s, and described as ‘a big butterfly poised on the hillside’.
Each handle is sand-cast and rumble-finished; because of small-batch manufacturing, slight variations will be visible from one piece to another. These production marks may include slight pour ripples or surface pitting.
Henry Wilson’s work combines a rational, democratic utility with an element of sculptural expression. There is a clear form and function in our products, but it’s important they also have feeling. We are interested in the awkward beauty that comes from something made by hand. We like to explore how imperfection can be introduced into an Industrial process, to make something at scale that retains a sense of individual charm.
