A large late Victorian painted Oak fireplace surround in the Palladian manner. A substantial moulded top shelf with a cornice of dental check sits above a frieze with a central rectangular carved patera flanked by bolection moulding that returns around the side. the square framed opening with further applied moulding in a dog leg shape that frames the whole, each jamb with sweeping side corbels with daisy tops and rosettes and flowing foliage, all resting on square foot block work. We have undercoated this in French grey.
