A 20th Century English novelty silver plated condiment bowl & spoon. It takes the shape of a wasp, incorporating silver-plated head, wings, and legs. Featuring a red transparent glass body as the abdomen / bowl. The wings are mounted with a hinge to allow access to the bowl, with a slit for the spoon to sit within the bowl when not in use. The reverse of the hinged wings is stamped “TRIPLE DEPOSIT, MAPPIN & WEBB’S PRINCE’S PLATE, LONDON & SHEFFIELD – e – WI 1518, PA 655, SP 115, FABRICATION ANGLLAISE 5”. The spoon is stamped “MAPPIN & WEBB, SILVER PLATE, e”.
