Taking a some inspiration from upholstery designs of the 1920s, Faudet-Harrison have created a very simple sofa system, notable for the use of continuous curves and a straight line sewn lengthways down the middle of the piece. It is made from a European hardwood frame, zig-zag springs, jute webbing, hessian straps and covered with a mix of materials that includes natural fibres, animal hair and wool. The legs are made from oak or aluminium.
The back rises up in a straight line vertically from the bottom of the frame, but it gently curves round at either end of the design. The seat is very deep and has a pleasing line detail stitched into it. Continuous is a sophisticated design that offers a number of possibilities in configuration. It is visually light, well-proportioned and ideal for contract environments.
Faudet-Harrison is a London-based design partnership between RCA Design Product graduates Jochem Faudet and Jon Harrison. Working on a cross section of product, furniture, interior and exhibition design, they have already built up an extensive client list, including, SCP, Thorsten Van Elten, Dunne and Raby, Habitat, Made and The Design Museum.
