Vintage Design
Solid mahogany and veneered cabinet, generously upholstered in brass, in the Louis XVI style.
Although in one piece, we will choose to describe it in two stages.
The upper part, narrower, opens in its center by a door forming a Tabernacle, equipped with a lock entrance, a working lock and its key. Its façade consists of a projecting panel, underlined by a brass quarter-circle rod. It is cut with Greek corners, leaving room in its corners for four Rosettes. This door also benefits from a brass decoration depicting birds drinking from a fountain. It reveals two compartments formed by the presence of a fixed shelf. On both sides, this piece of furniture offers two niches with brass columns, as well as two small drawers with chiselled drawer knobs. The top of this first part has a Baluster Gallery on three of its sides. It is also bordered by a brass frieze, shaped as curtains held up by tassels.
The lower part opens with three drawers, the middle one being wider than the other two, and all of them are provided with drawer pendants. This belt is supported at the front by four turned Columns, with brass-filled flutes, and crowned with Bronze Capitals. The low shelf, recessed at the front, rests on four moulded feet at the front and two straight feet at the back.
Each of the tops of this piece of furniture is decorated with a half round brass rod, and each drawer front has a frame inlaid with the same alloy.
The quality of the wood and the trimmings of this Elegant Cabinet with its interesting dimensions is worth mentioning.
