1950s Knoll Saarinen Womb Chair & Ottoman

1950s vintage Model 70 Womb Chair and ottoman designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll.

In 1948 Florence Knoll asked Saarinen to design a chair she could snuggle into like a basket of pillows. The result was the Womb Chair and ottoman.

This example, which we believe to be from the 1950s, is amde from molded plywood and latex foam. It has blackened steel frames with chrome swivel feet. The frames are attached with round head screws, as shown. Upholstered in original orange wool fabric. The chair seat and lumbar cushions are held in place with clips. The ottoman cushion is loose.

Very Good pre-owned condition. Some scuffs or light scratches on the frame. The fabric is sun faded and lightly soiled on the arms. No tears, rips or open seams.
