A rare and unusual Palladian style 19th century fireplace in Marrone Breccia and Belgian black marbles, with a marble mirrored overmantel. The top pediment with dental work carving in Belgian black marble, surmounts the beveled original mercury plate mirror within a Belgian Black fielded panel. This is flanked either side by scrolled brackets with conforming interior Belgian Black fielded panels. The header and jambs with a flat moulded Bolection interior and outside consoles with scrolled tops in Belgian Black marble. A well drawn and very good quality piece executed in rare marble. English mid-19th century.
