Circular Louis XV style bouillotte table in kingwood marquetry standing on four cabriole legs. Four apron leaves with a curved frontal edge covered with brown leather hit with gilt irons with a decor of foliage scrolls and opening by a small gilt brass button. Ornamentation of kingwood marquetry sole sliced. Scalloped Medici Breche marble top. Removable top with scalloped edges and with a kingwood marquetry tray, plank side sliced on the back and sole sliced on the front, organized in a sun shape centered by an Amboina veneered circle. Chiseled and gilt bronze ornamentation in stick shapes on the exterior edges of legs, foliage for shoes, and acanthus leaves shape on the apron and in a molded and curved frame around the removable tray. Work realized in the late of 19th century. Bouillotte table owed its name to a card game “la bouillotte”, kind of poker very played in France in the late 18th century. Usually, those tables measured 90 cm of diameter, then their dimensions were reduced. They’re light, round, composed with drawers or apron leaves and might be completed with a “plug” baize allowing to play to cards conveniently.
